South Dakota : Bill Requring Gun Ownership Introduced

One of the main arguments against health reform law is that it requires people to buy health care insurance regardless of whether they want or need. Judge Vinson very cleverly used this argument to declare the law, also known as Obamacare unconstitutional.

The practical argument is that if the government has the power to make someone buy a product or service that would have the power to force people to buy any product or service. Perhaps in the spirit of the time trial, five members of the Legislature of the State of South Dakota introduced a bill requiring all adult residents of the state to possess a firearm. People who by law are prohibited from possessing firearms, for example, people with criminal records are exempt from the law.

The bill comes in a little fantasy, but also to make a point to people who may think that people who need health insurance would be a good idea. It is suspected that these people are disproportionately in favor of restrictions on ownership of the hand gun and take it amiss if required to possess a firearm.

Mind, one could argue that an armed citizenry would be a deterrent to crime. Imagine if the proposed South Dakota law would become reality, the law and that combined with a bill of export. Any thought of robbing a convenience store or car-jacking someone would have to consider the possibility of being fired to customers and passersby.

Some people consider the proposal of such a law, even made a joke, as something in poor taste considering the shooting of Tucson. But what if there are more people in the Safeway parking lot of heat had been trained in proper use? Jared Loughna could have been shot or two before being drilled in the vicinity. If someone had been alert, Loughna could have been dropped before he could put a bullet in the brain and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords would have saved much pain and suffering, to say nothing of the courts of Arizona a lot of time and expenses.

The bill requires gun ownership is not going to happen, which is too bad. It would be interesting to have at least a State of the Union may be used as an experiment in what would happen if everyone had a gun. Noon on the highways? Or an era of peace, tranquility and good manners? One would imagine that the latter more than the first.
